- Kalimpong, famous for its orchids, stunning views of the Teesta River and culture with its’ Buddhist and British influences.
- Darjeeling, visit Tiger Hill for the spectacular sunrise and the tea gardens that made this hill station famous.
- Calcutta a city teeming with people, history, culture and more.

A visit to this area of India feels like a very different country from the India you may have seen previously in the better-known regions of Rajasthan and Kerala. It has a very strong Buddhist culture, with Tibetan centres and extraordinary monasteries dotting a landscape that is fascinating in itself, rolling rivers, spectacular mountain views, orchids, tea plantations and a UNESCO World Heritage Toy Train ride. This couldn’t contrast more with the teeming yet charming city of Kolkata which somehow still manages to retain an old world charm amidst a burgeoning population. After all that you will have seen, spend a day or two, relaxing in a restored palace, the only one of its kind in the region. You may choose to relax and enjoy the property or explore the surrounding, unspoiled rural area, an experience in itself.
