Jukaso Ganges, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

This centuries-old hotel and former private haveli, located at the Guleria Ghat is one of Varanasi's few authentic heritage properties. With just fifteen rooms, separated over several floors, it maintains a feeling of intimacy, without feeling crowded. Most of its rooms look out across the East, providing the best views of the River Ganges. Constructed entirely of yellow Chunar sandstone, its intricate carvings standout from the jumble of colourful structures to either side. The rooftop restaurant has an enchanting atmosphere, serenaded by the chime of temple bells and the bustle of life below. It's a great place to watch the sunset. As with many properties in Varanasi, Jukaso Ganges is only accessible by boat, which makes for a memorable arrival and departure. Providing yoga classes and an Ayurvedic spa, Jukaso Ganges even has its own meditation room, from where you can spot an 800-year-old idol of Lord Vishnu.
