Hotel Arches, Cochin, Kerala

With its central location and rooftop restaurant, Arches Hotel has some great selling points. Housed in a white colonial edifice its rooms are spacious and comfortable, providing all the mod-cons. Most have four-posters are decorated in a classic style with local artworks, including television, minibars and all creature comforts. Stained glass windows and fresh flowers are a colourful addition. Arches' restaurant serves a flavoursome blend of local Kerala, North Indian, and Western dishes whilst breakfast is a continental and Indian spread, although chef will be happy to make any special requests you might staff. Walking distance from the Chinese fishing nets you are perfectly placed for exploring Kochi on foot, though staff will gladly flag down a tuk-tuk for you, should you wish to take a tour for the day. There is no pool, which some may see as something of a downside, but there is so much to see and do in Kochi, few spend their time here lounging by one.
