Chhatra Sagar, Pali, Rajasthan
About
Glamping at its best. The location of these tents is what make it really special, situated on a dam wall, overlooking the man-made lake, waking up to spectacular sunsets and the sounds of nothing but the countryside. The beauty of this place is that there is little to do, and it provides a very welcome respite from what can seem like an onslaught of the senses that India can provide. Having said that, your charming hosts, who have farmed this land for over one hundred years (and built the dam) will arrange for you to take a walk and point out the local birds. They also arrange one of the best village tours we have sampled in India. The village is kept clean and at least one member of each family is employed at the camp, making them immensely proud. In the evening, climb up the hill for sundowners and a beautiful sunset and then sit around the camp fire, whilst drinks are served and your food is prepared. The food here, incidentally, is widely considered to be the best Rajasthani home cooking in the state and alfresco dinners take place under an incredible canopy of stars; afterwards, you can sit around a bonfire chatting with your charming hosts.
The eleven beautiful tents are kitted out with full bathrooms, hot showers, private verandas with views immediately over the lake and the latest, some might say ‘welcome,’ addition is that there is now even WiFi. This is the perfect place to relax and recharge before continuing on your journey.""
