Bujera Fort, Udaipur, Rajasthan
About
A modern Mughal abode boasting the best of both worlds: away from the narrow busy streets of Udaipur’s old town, yet within 20-minutes drive of them. Surrounding a traditional quadrangle style Mughal pleasure garden, complete with a step well-cum- swimming pool, its gardens are dotted with seating areas and shady spots to relax. Each of its 14 suites is unique and filled with antiques, reclaimed and re-purposed from around India, and afar. Owner Richard is very particular about the food, and it’s to the benefit of his guests. River Café by way of Rajasthan, you’ll find homemade jams on offer in the morning, freshly baked lemon drizzle cake in the afternoon, warming soups in the evening, organic salads during the day, and a proper roast on Sundays. All served on the finest bone china straight from Staffordshire. As much as possible is sourced from the property’s organic vegetable gardens. The new Ayurvedic spa and two Labrador puppies are both much-welcomed additions.""
