India’s answer to the Loire Valley, Nashik is prime wine country, and Beyond by Sula its most famous vineyard. Hidden behind the rolling hills of Gangapur, home to the temple of Lord Dattatreya, it is a verdant escape amidst the lush Maharasthran countryside. Each room looks out across the serene Gangapur lake, and acres of grapevines, as far as the eye can see. Guests can choose from the sleek three-bedroom Sky Villa or seven Lakeview rooms. All are totally modern and minimalistic, with plenty of polished concrete, state of the art fittings, floor-to-ceiling windows to make that most of those views, but with quirky touches like old wine-barrels for tables, that remind one where you are. There is an impressive infinity pool, perfect for whiling away an afternoon and taking in Nashik’s impressive sunsets. Dine on organic dishes (much from the hotel’s own farm) accompanied by a glass of house wine, of course.
