About
This former judge's bungalow, situated on a cliff top overlooking the Arabian Sea was built in 1862 by a trader from the East India Company.  There are views of the ocean from the garden which has hammocks and chairs strategically placed for the best views of the sunset. There are just six bedrooms each filled with the original wonderful antique furniture. Ayesha Manzil is an excellent base to discover the lesser known, less developed area of Northern Kerala. Moosa's family bought this house in 1900 from an English cinnamon planter and he has lived here much of his life. He and his wife Faizal delight in taking guests to the local fish and spice markets, to choose the ingredients for dishes cooked later in the day.  Faisal Faiza is a renowned cook of Keralan Mopillah cuisine using local seafood and spices and her recipes have already appeared in a number of books and magazines. Enjoy a cookery lesson, relax by the pool or enjoy an Ayurvedic massage.  Local visits include the Bede rolling factory, nearby temples where dramatic and colourful 'Theyyam' Keralan dances are still performed most evenings, and weaving factories where local fabrics can be purchased for a fraction of the cost at home.
