About
The jewel in Delhi's crown this standalone property is still owned by descendants of the Singh Akoi family, who built it back in 1934. Designed by Blomfield and inaugurated by Lord Willingdon The Imperial Hotel has some rather grand beginnings. A harmony of late Victorian, Colonial and Art Deco styles it houses one of the finest collections of private land war gallantry in India, so make sure to spare an hour for the art tour whilst you're there. A stone's throw from the heart of Lutyen's Delhi: Connaught Place, it is one of the few properties in town that you can actually get about by foot. Which makes navigating the markets of Janpath a lively afternoon activity. The swimming pool is the very definition of an urban oasis, and unlike other hotels in the capital, only resident guests are permitted, so a tranquil ambience is maintained at all times. Rooms imbue a similar sense of decorum, from the Art Deco rooms to the very Royal Imperial Suite. Housing some of Delhi's finest eating establishments, from Eastern dishes at The Spice Route, classic meals at 1911, afternoon tea at The Atrium, or a G&T at Patiala Peg, there are enough to keep your taste buds in entertained during your stay.
